Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming) was established on December 28, 1972.

By providing our customers with high-quality “punctual, speedy, reliable, and economical” services, Yang Ming has become one of the leading shipping companies in the world.

At May of 2023, Yang Ming operates a fleet of 94 vessels with a 8.048-million-D.W.T / operating capacity 715 thousand TEUS, of which container ships are the mains service force.

As a result of our effort to enhance our global competitiveness, Yang Ming has won the following awards and certificates since 1996: National Outstanding Quality Award of R.O.C. (Taiwan), International management code for the safe operation of ships and for pollution prevention (ISM Code), International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 27001 Certificate for Information Security Management System, TOSHMS 2011 Certificate for Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management System, and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health & Safety Management System, Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism(C-TPAT), Authorized Economic Operator(AEO) , ISO14064 Greenhouse Gas Inventory Management, Quality shipping for the 21st century.

About our logo

Yang Ming is a translation of the first two characters of our Chinese name, which is also the name of a well-known Chinese philosopher, 王陽明 (Wang Yang-ming, 1472-1529). The tenet of Wang’s philosophy is the linking of knowing and doing. In Chinese, 陽is the sun, 明is brightness, or integrity. Yang Ming embraces the philosophy of linking knowing to doing in performance.
The Yang Ming logo is designed using YM, the initials of its shortened name. Y shows the company’s ambition to reach the top in innovation, while M suggests it is widely open in dealing with partners and customers.

The flow of a Wave is our Corporate Supplementary Pattern. This Wave not only represents Yang Ming's core business, sea transportation, but also our concern for the oceans and marine ecology. The Wave flows from left to right like a rising tiding, signifying Yang Ming's constant efforts to upgrade and keep our progress and efficiency to a peak.


In the face of rapid changes in shipping business environment and in our customers' request, to provide our customers with multiple choices and rapid shipping service, our managing policy includes unceasingly fortifying our strategic alliances with shipping partners, enlarging the shipping service network and increasing calling ports. In addition, through continuously using new information technology, upgrading computer systems, unifying the relevant information, and modifying working process, we provide electronic service to our customers and promote our working quality and quantity as well. Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation offers top-notch, scheduled container transportation service across Asia, Europe, America, and Australia, worthy of trust by customers. We have been continuing to upgrade our fleet and services in hopes of becoming one of the world’s best carriers.


Kuang Ming Shipping Corporation offers global bulk transportation service. It mainly uses the Panamax bulk ships to carry iron ore, coal and grain, etc. by time charter or voyage charter. It provides bulk transportation service across the world under the credo of "Steady Operation, Quality Service, Customers Uppermost, and Safety First."


Yang Ming has invested in terminals at Kaohsiung and Taipei Harbors in Taiwan, Los Angeles in the United States, and Antwerp in Belgium. Its affiliated company, Kao Ming Container Terminal Corp., has invested in a green and high technology terminal at Kaohsiung Harbor. The terminal and container depot there have already been operational and become Yang Ming’s transshipment hub in the Far East.


YES Logistics Corporation, another affiliate of ours, offers total logistics service with headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan. Besides, YES has set up offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Xiamen, Ningbo, Tianjin, Wuhan, Hefei in China and in Hong Kong. It also maintains offices in Bangkok, Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Denmark as well as agency network around the world. To enhance service capability and quality, YES is very aggressively developing proper logistics facilities. At the moment, YES operates Taiwan's a unique multi-temperature warehousing logistics center in Kaohsiung and a warehouse in Frankfurt, Germany. On the other hand, through joint venture, YES also gets involved in operation of cold chain warehouses and reefer depots in China. Integrated with logistics facilities, not only for sea freight and also for air freight, YES possesses the capability to offer supply chain management and total logistics solutions. The vision of becoming an outstanding logistics service provider is becoming true step by step. Yang Ming has established professional trucking companies in Taiwan, UK, USA and China. The company offers total logistics solutions to customers around the world according to their needs.


In order to raise public awareness of marine culture and fulfill Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Yang Ming opened YM Oceanic Culture & Art Museum at Keelung in 2004. For permanent promotion of maritime cultural education, it established the “Yang Ming Cultural Foundation” on May 13th, 2005. Yang Ming hopes to bring people closer to marine culture through exhibitions and other activities held by these facilities.

In recent years, Yang Ming’s efforts to promote cultural undertakings have been validated again and again. We won, among others, the Ministry of Culture's Wenxin Golden Award and the National Outstanding Cultural Volunteer Award and the Ministry of Education's Social Education Award. The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Bureau of Industry awarded Yang Ming the Creative Life Industries Charter, and a unit of the Executive Yuan issued an English Services Emblem to Yang Ming. In 2013, Yang Ming won Creative Enterprise Award given by Ministry of Culture.
