1982 - 1983 Four more 2,054 TEU full container vessels joined YANG MING's fleet. An extension to North Europe was added to the Mediterranean- bound liner service, and the Far East / Europe full container liner service was also inaugurated.
1983 YANG MING's capital was further increased to NT$5,098,288,000.00.
1984 Three 66,000-ton Panamax-class bulk carriers were built and put into service.
The ROC Ministry of Transportation and Communications awarded YANG MING for its successful and efficient Far East / Europe liner service.
YANG MING's capital was again increased to NT$5,268,688,000.00.
1985 Named as one of the world's "most satisfactory marine transporters in service and reliability," YANG MING was also cited by the American press as one of the top ten liner services in the world.
1986 YANG MING's capital was again increased to NT$6,341,488,000.00.
1986-1987 Four 3,266-TEU full container vessels, the largest of the kind in the ROC at the time, were completed. With the inauguration of the Far East /Australia and Far East / Northeast Asia liner services, a hub-and-poke network of shipping routes was accomplished.
YANG MING was awarded "Outstanding Marine Transporter of the Year" by the government of the Republic of China.
1987 Four more 3,266-TEU full container vessels were put into service.
YANG MING was cited by the London-based British Shipper Consultation (a subsidiary of the Freight Transport Association Ltd.) as the world's "Second Most Acclaimed Shipping Company" in client service rendition.

A liner service linking the Indian Ocean, the Persian Gulf, the Far East, the U.S.A. and Europe was inaugurated.
1989 IPI service was expanded. The scope of shipping and connecting land transportation services in the U.S. was also enlarged.

1991-2000

1991 To enhance the utilization of ships' carrying space, collaboration with Hanjin line of S.Korea had been made to form a joint liner service between the Far East and the U.S. East coast through mutual chartering of vessels' available space.
To promote better service scope and quality, Oakland had been added to the rotation of regular calling ports on the Far East/U.S. Pacific coast liner service trade route.
1992 YANG MING shares were listed on the Stock Exchange in Taiwan, R.O.C.
Three 3,604 TEU container vessels were completed and joined the YANG MING's worldwide service.
Joint service cooperation with Wan Hai line on the service networks of Taiwan /Bangkok /Manila/ Indonesia bound service had been strengthened to satisfy customers' needs and help traders develop the Asian market.
1993 An order for constructing four 3,725 TEU full container high-speed vessels had been placed.
1994 YANG MING's capital was increased to NT$10,815,385,000.00 through cash subscription to the increment of 200,000,000 shares.
To further strengthen service scope and quality, a new three-way collaboration with CMA of France and NYK of Japan had been agreed upon in order to extend a joint liner service between the Far East and the Mediterranean Sea, with an increase of direct calling ports such as : Barcelona of Spain, Fos of France and Nagoya of Japan in Far East.
In order to raise capital for container ship construction, an issuance of the Overseas Convertible Bonds in the amount of US $ 160,000,000.00 had been successfully completed through the London Stock Exchange, to greatly benefit future operations.
A construction order for one 3,725 TEU full container high-speed vessel was placed with the shipbuilder.
1995 Four of the five 3,725 TEU high-speed container vessels ordered were completed, which immediately joined the fleet service after delivery in May, June, September and October, respectively.
The China Merchants Steam Navigation Co., Ltd. of Taiwan, R.O.C. merged with YANG MING.
YANG MING's capital was increased to NT$11,295,538,500.00.
1996 The fifth 3,725 TEU container vessel ordered was completed and put into the fleet service in early January.
The joint service with K-Line of Japan on both the Far East / North Europe and the Far East /U.S. Pacific Coast routes officially started in the beginning of January.
YANG MING successfully completed its privatization, effective from February 15, as its governmental shareholdings were reduced to less than 50% (actually already down to 48.9%) due to smooth release of government's shares to the public.
Through all the staffs' efforts to enhance the performance efficiency, YANG MING has been awarded both ISO 9002 and ISM CODE accreditation simultaneously from two international survey authorities: DNV of Norway and CR of the Republic of China. Besides, YANG MING also obtained the ROC's National Outstanding Quality Case Award in August. And with ISO 9002/ISM CODE accreditation, YANG MING will definitely provide more comprehensive quality service for its customers all over the world.
In November, the issuance of GDR (Global Deposit Receipt) amounting to about US$112 million through London Stock Exchange was successfully completed. The GDR money, raised through a global cash subscription to the increment of 100 million YANG MING common shares, will be used to purchase 5 new big container vessels with a capacity of 5,500 TEUS each.
YANG MING's capital was increased to NT$12,295,385,000.00.
1997 In early January, Yang Ming Line established a subsidiary company in Japan, for handling and enhancing all the integrated services to meet the requirements of the Japan market.
Through a consortium agreement with K-Line of Japan, Yang Ming Line successfully inaugurated its TA(Trans-Atlantic) service on February 16, providing a weekly North Europe/North America full container liner service to meet its global accounts' requirements for better performance.
YANG MING's capital was increased to NT$13,158,803,810.00.
To promote global-connection shipping service,YANG MING inaugurated 2 new service routes in September:
(1)Far East/Persian Gulf(U.A.E.), Sub-continent (India/Pakistan) full container liner service

1998 YANG MING signed a contract with the Los Angeles Port Authority to lease LA's newly expanded wharf facilities for enhancing the service quality in cargo operation, warehousing and intermodal inland transportation for the benefit of our customers.
Through space chartering, YANG MING started the cooperative joint service with TNWA (The New World Alliance) on the Asia/Mediterranean route.
YANG MING signed contracts with the China Shipbuilding Corp. and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., of Korea for the construction of two and three, respectively 5,500 TEU container vessels that will be the speediest container vessels in the world in the category. It is expected these vessels will be ready to join the YANG MING's fleet service around end of 2000 and early 2001.
A new liner service route between North Europe and East Mediterranean (NMX Service) was inaugurated in early October.
1999 YANG MING inaugurated 2 new weekly service routes in mid January:

YANG MING establishes its subsidiary company in Hong Kong providing service to Southwest Mainland China and Hong Kong.

To assist the rescue and reconstruction efforts of the devastating earthquake occurring in Taiwan in September, YANG MING provides free shipping services to transport overseas relief goods to Taiwan through its worldwide service network.

2001-2010

2001 YANG MING cooperates with Kaohsiung Port Authority to establish an International Logistics Center at Dock No.70 of Kaohsiung Port.
Five 5,551 TEU full container vessels - Ming Bamboo, Ming Pine, Ming Cosmos, Ming Cypress, Ming Green constructed by the China Shipbuilding Corp. and Korea¡¦s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. are completed and join YANG MING's fleet service.
2002 Yang Ming cooporates with K- Line and COSCON to integrate its Asia / U.S. East Coast Express Liner Service and TransAtlantic III Service into Asia / U.S. East Coast / Europe-Mediterranean Pendulum services, commencing in February in 2002.
Yang Ming and K Line rationalize their service routes on a global basis to provide best service to their customers. The new joint service, including PSW-1/AES-1 Pendulum Service, PSW2 Service, PSW3 Service, PNW Service, AES2 Service, is commenced at the end of March, 2002.
