Customer Advisory - Egyptian New Customs Law of Advance Cargo Information Declaration
2021/06/17

Dear Valued Customers,

As you may be aware that the new Egyptian Customs law of Advance Cargo information (ACI) will be mandatory for all Egypt import shipment as of 1st July 2021 (on board date). ACI procedures requires Shipping Lines to ensure shipments to Egypt are verified using their ACI information before loading.

In order to comply with the Egyptian ACI regulation, shipper is responsible to provide ACI Mandatory References to Yang Ming (YM) as follows at booking stage as much as possible and at latest in shipping instruction.
* ACID Number: a 19-digit number uniquely identifying the ACI shipment.
* Importer TAX Number: a 9-digit number issued by the Egyptian Tax Authority uniquely identifying all companies registered in Egypt.
* Exporter Identification Number: The exporter identification number issued by the relevant authority, either Registration or VAT number.

1. ACI three numbers are required
   -Egyptian import laden shipment
-In-transit cargo to neighboring country by land. (Example: Cargo in transit to Libya)
2. ACI three numbers are not required
   -Personal effect shipment
-Shipment with Egypt President and Minister office as Consignee.

Without valid ACID Number, YM will strictly refrain from loading any shipment planned to be destined to Egypt at the first load port.

Any costs associated with manifest correction after the given deadline, among others but not limited to customs penalties, change of destination and administration fees will be under shipper's account.

Thank you very much for your understanding.
